Reading Bean

Now that life is returning to some semblance of normalcy (fingers crossed) I've been practicing with my other canon lens (85 mm1.8).

These are a few shots I took of Charlie 'reading' his favorite word book. Lately, he loves flipping through his books and telling the stories out loud in 'Charliese'. Tonight though he was content to just take in the pictures in silence. It is a rare moment when my bean is quiet, and I was lucky to capture it.

Goodnight!

Happy Weekend

Finally a shot of the bean and Mama that is somewhat post-worthy.
Some light gardening in the backyard...
Boys hard at work!

Sticky fingers

It has been really difficult to try a snap off a good shot of the bean lately. All he wants to ever do is run to the camera and smear his chunky -and often dirty-fingers all over my lens!

I have to try and catch him off guard. But then he still comes running.
It's hard being a Mama ;o)

Before and During

Thought I would share a little of the progress going on outside in the back yard. This was how it was when we closed on the house: Pool in ruins, very dangerous fence, you can't tell because its very early spring but many trees on the perimeter are unhealthy.

And here we are now. Pool is filled, fence down, dead/dying trees still in the process of being removed. We have to level out the ground and then put down grass seed.
And then over the winter I can begin to dream about the future garden. In the old house, we had hydrangeas, blueberry bushes and a veggie garden on the tiny patch of land. I miss the flowers, but yesterday when I was taking Charlie for a walk along our street I found a huge forest of raspberries growing wild. I couldn't help myself and brought a handful home- you'll keep my secret, right?!

Afternoon at the park

Charlie is teething up a storm right now with six pearly whites in various states of pushing/cutting through-poor bean. We were able to transport our cranky selves out of the house for a few minutes today to meet up with a friend at the park. It's amazing what a little fresh air can do for both the bean and my morales :o)

Oreo goatee

I feel like this blog has not been updated in ages, it's just that with Joe still not well there isn't much time. I do have some great news to post about- today we closed on our old house, so we officially only own one house now!

And in Bean news...
I gave Charlie his first taste of an oreo tonight for dessert- you can see it went over pretty well.
Another bean favorite right now: the Ikea blue tunnel. Proof is in the pictures ;o)

Dining Room, Entry and some nature...

Finally put the remainder of my Sears Outlet Parson chairs together; they are definitely worth the $25 price per chair tag, very comfy. The $10 slipcovers from Walmart seriously need some ironing, but that's not at the top of the priority list right now.

You can see my antique kitchen through the doorway ;o) I think I am going to put that retro oven on Craigslist for very cheap once we re-do the kitchen.

Obviously we need a rug for the room, but that will come in time.

Entryway/foyer. Maybe I can get the mirror on the wall tonight...

And then this is what we saw over the trees in our back yard the night before last. Makes me think better days are ahead :o)
